So now the International Week 2014 has ended. Thank you for your participation and having this journey with us! This whole project was a real learning experience to all of us in the organizing team in things that we can do better and in things that we did really well. Mainly the multi-cultural event made us to think outside the box and to go out of our comfort zone. It was indeed a challenge!

We really appreciate you spending the week with us and learning about the behind the scenes -part of it. We really learned team work and event organizing as well as project management which is our major. We especially loved the cultural café each day and how different cultures were shown during the week.

We hope you enjoyed your stay and have warm memories about your stay in Finland.

International Livingroom

Hello everyone!

Tomorrow is going to be the last internationally themed coffee break at the 3rd floor Olohuone and the theme country is going to be Spain! We have been able to enjoy from Taiwanese bubble tea, Hungarian sandwiches and a British/Belgium snacks during our coffee breaks this week, so if you still haven't visited our third floor International Livingroom please join us tomorrow at 2pm.

The Future is Ours

On monday the theme of the week "The Future is Ours" was the main focus in the keynote speach and at the panel discussion. Keynote speaker Ilkka O. Lavas held a presentation about Glocal Business meaning the global and local perspectives on international business. During the speach he explained about his business backround and thoughts about the globalization and the term glocal business. He pointed out the importance of understanding other cultures when doing business especially globally, this empasizes in future.

"Sharing, saving, teaching, decisions, values and technology" these words came to panelists minds when thinking about the theme. The panelist discussed about the subject and how it has affected on their own lifes. Here is some thoughts they had from what globalization means to them: "To be able to work in an international environment and learn from those new relationships and connections" "Online shopping and social media, do we lose the sense of community and become less social. "Globalization can make cultures and traditions disappear" 
"Do you want to force tradition or accept globalization?"

The panelist experienced that after spending a long period abroad they have gain more appreciation for their own culture and better perspective to live itself.

Welcome!

Laurea Tikkurila's International Week 2014 is now started. We are super excited about this week and hoping you all can join us and make it the best International Week ever!
In the lobby we have our registration open and some of our team members welcoming the visitors to our school. Also there can be found our Wall of Fame where you can leave your own handprint and for the rest of the week this work of art will be visible to the audiance.

So today's schedule starts at 12.30 with the Opening seremony. After that there will be International weeks Keynote speaker's speach by Ilkka O. Lavas, a publisher of City-Magazine who was kind enough to join us at the last minute. His presentation "Go out there to see and learn: Understanfding Global Business" will be held in the Big auditorium at 13.00-13.45 and everyone is welcomed to listen!

14.45-16.00 we are hosting a panel discussion about the week's theme "The Future is Ours!" where there is going to be international guests, alumnies and students as panelists you can also participate the discussion via Twitter with #tikkurilaIW14. After the Panel Discussion there is Partner's Rooftop party at the fifth floor where we introduce some Finnish tastes.
